Planning a Garden for Maine’s Climate

We sold the farm… this is why

A year after selling their farm due to burnout and personal tragedies, the couple moved onto a sailboat, then an isolated cabin, and eventually an RV. Their journey involved grappling with life’s challenges, reconnecting with family, and adapting to new environments, culminating in an upcoming trip to Hawaii.

Autosexing Olive Eggers: Golden Bielefelder x Cream Crested Legbar Olive Egger

Many offspring produced from Cream Crested Legbar imported to the US in 2010 developed warm tones in their feathering setting them apart from the imported pastel and gray toned Cream birds. These Legbar were established as a US variety, Golden Crele Legbar. They are currently housed with the Cream, offering a 50/50 chance of variety color. They retain their autosexing and colorful eggs, just look different than their Cream cousins.

Mushrooms and Life

This mushroom season has been great so far. A long sunny stretch in the next ten days or so ought to slow it down for a bit. This year I finally found the coveted Chanterelle and King Bolete while exploring the property we are looking to move our farm to. There View Article

I am becoming obsessed with these adorable d’Uccle Booted Bantams. I mean, just look at them! How could you not be obsessed? Those two-color freckles and fuzzy cheeks are out of a muppet movie—and they have “snowshoes” for feet.

The gorgeous 55 Flowery Hen have marking similar to Speckled Sussex, boast jumbo pure white eggs, excellent feed conversion, a calm personality, and are more friendly than the Legbar.
